Beautiful Bolberry…
Bolberry is a quiet hamlet nestling in the South Devon countryside which leads up to Bolberry Down and Ocean Reach. From the front doors of the holiday homes are countless countryside and coastal walks. Along the coast path in an easterly direction is the tranquil Soar Mill Cove and then the beaches and town of Salcombe. In the opposite direction are the beaches of Hope Cove leading onto the beautiful stretch of sand at South Milton Sands. Here, you can hire windsurfs and kayaks and have lessons if you choose. Bantham beach is next along the coast where surfing and bodyboarding is a favourite for locals and tourists alike. A small passenger ferry operates between Bantham and Bigbury. It is from Bigbury that you can walk or ride in the sea tractor to the famous Agatha Christie Burgh Island, which can be seen from Ocean Reach.
Picturesque & Peaceful
The nearest villages are Hope Cove and Malborough both with quaint thatched cottages. Hope Cove has a village shop and post office, Hope and Anchor Pub, The Cove Bistro and many hotels with restaurants open to non-residents. Malborough has a post office and gift shop and a petrol station with a well stocked Co-op supermarket.
The nearest towns are the market town of Kingsbridge where you can kayak or paddleboard down the estuary to the yachting haven of Salcombe. Kingsbridge has two larger supermarkets and a range of shops and boat trips down to Salcombe. Both towns have a variety of eating places which are well worth a visit. A little further away are the historic towns of Totnes and Dartmouth – with boat trips operating between them. The small town of Ivybridge is within a half hour drive and is known as the ‘Gateway to Dartmoor’.
This area of Devon is very dog friendly with dogs being allowed on the beaches and welcomed into eating places.
